A traumatic brain injury, also known as TBI or intracranial injury, is generally the result of a sudden, violent blow or jolt to the head. The brain is launched into a collision course with the inside of the skull, resulting in possible bruising of the brain, tearing of nerve fibers and bleeding.

A recent study published in The American Surgeon was titled “Effect of Marijuana Use on Outcomes in Traumatic Brain Injury.” In this study, researchers concluded that patients who had detectable levels of THC in their bodies were less likely than those who did not to die as a result of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
