DOVER, DE – A cannabis decriminalization bill known as House Bill 39 was introduced in the state of Delaware on January 29, 2015, and is designed to replace criminal penalties with civil violations for cannabis possession. Cannabis Decriminalization Bill Introduced In Delaware Sponsors of the bill include State Representative Helene Keeley (D), Senators Margaret Rose Henry and Bryan Townsend, and 10 of their colleagues. Poll Shows Delaware Is Overwhelmingly Ready To Decriminalize Cannabis
In a recent Public Policy Polling survey released by Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), over two-thirds of Delaware voters (68%) are in favor of marijuana decriminalization. They supported the replacement of criminal penalties for a civil offense that is punishable for a fine of up to $100 for those caught with possession of up to an ounce of marijuana. Delaware May Permit Just One Medical Marijuana Dispensary
Delaware Proposed New Medical Marijuana Regulations Earlier this month, the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services issued their proposed medical marijuana regulations. Under the regulations, the state would only allow the operation of one dispensary, or compassion center. Further, the sole location would be limited to 150 plants and 1,500 ounces of cannabis at any given time.
