Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy 4.20 Bar From The Venice Cookie Co.

The Venice Cookie Co. released a new version of their classic 4.20 Bar last month. The Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy 4.20 Bar is gluten-free and contains natural blackberry flavor.

The Venice Cookie Co. Offers A Variety Of 4.20 Bars

One of the most well known infused edible companies in California, The Venice Cookie Co. has built a wide-ranging network since being founded in 2006. Their products can be found at dispensaries throughout the State of California.

We’ve had a chance to review a lot of the The Venice Cookie Co.’s products over the years, and they have something for just about everyone. Their offering includes Lil’ Tootsies, Grape Cannabis Quencher, Strawberry Cannabis Lemonade, Northwest Natural Petite Honey, and more.

“In honor of this year’s 4/20 holiday, the company released two new flavors – Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy and Milk Chocolate + Hemp Crunch.”

Still, it’s their line of 4.20 Bars that The Venice Cookie Co. is best known for. Each bar is infused with 4.20 grams of cannabis – they come in an assortment of flavors including Milk Chocolate + Toffee and Dark Chocolate + Sea Salt.

In general, The Venice Cookie Co. produces traditional milk chocolate and dark chocolate recipes, often throwing in a slight twist. In honor of this year’s 4/20 holiday, the company released two new flavors – Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy and Milk Chocolate + Hemp Crunch.

Blackberry-Flavored Dark Chocolate Meets Popping Candy

When it comes to The Venice Cookie Co.’s product line, the Dark Chocolate + Popping Candy 4.20 Bar has long been one of my personal favorites. So, I was hesitant upon hearing that the company nixed the original Dark Chocolate + Popping Candy 4.20 Candy Bar.

Fortunately, I didnt have too much to worry about. Instead of discontinuing the product altogether, The Venice Cookie Co. added a bit of natural blackberry flavor to the equation.

I always love to see when infused edible producers take the time to clearly label their products with the ingredients and nutrition information. The ingredients for the Blackberry Popping Candy 4.20 Bar are listed as follows:

  • Dark chocolate (64% Cacao beans, Pure cane sugar, Cocoa butter, Soya lecithin, Vanilla beans)
  • Popping candy (Sugar, Lactose)
  • Corn syrup
  • Natural blackberry flavor
  • 4.2 grams dried cannabis

Effects Of The Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy Bar

My first bite of the Blackberry Popping Candy + Dark Chocolate 4.20 Bar was a bit surprising – the natural blackberry flavoring seems to produce a taste that is similar to fruity cereal or raspberry ice cream. It can take a few seconds of getting used to.

Once I got past the surprise factor, the blackberry flavor was pretty good. However, I must say that I prefer the flavor of the original Popping Candy 4.20 Bar.

As is the case with their entire product line, The Venice Cookie Co. uses cannabis oil to produce their Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy 4.20 Bar. Each bar contains 180 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It also contains ≤10 milligrams of cannabidiol (CBD) and <5 milligrams of cannabinol (CBN). In order to allow for easy dosing, every 4.20 Bar is divided into 6 different sections (30mg of THC per section).

“The popping candy was introduced in order to encourage patients to let the 4.20 Bar melt in their mouth.”

At first, I assumed that the addition of the popping candy was merely a novel attempt to intrigue patients. But after speaking with The Venice Cookie Co. team, I learned that there was a method to their madness.

According to them, the popping candy was introduced in order to encourage patients to let the 4.20 Bar melt in their mouth. This way, a good portion of the cannabinoid will be absorbed sublingually (under the tongue), allowing the effects to be felt more quickly.

I let 2 sections of the Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy 4.20 Bar melt in my mouth, and started to feel the effects in about 20 minutes. I experienced a slight body melt, but it was not enough to make me feel couchlocked. Further, my stress and anxiety seemed to drift away in no time.

All in all, I would say the Dark Chocolate + Blackberry Popping Candy 4.20 Bar is a solid option for those who like chocolate-covered fruit. At the same time, it provides patients with a low-calorie edible option – the entire bar is just 150 calories.
