707 Headband
- OG Kush X Sour Diesel
- OG Kush
Bred by DNA Genetics, the 707 Headband strain is a classic California strain that was the result of crossing two legendary hybrids. It is best known for it’s powerful, cerebral effects and the dense, compact nugs the strain often produces.
707 Headband Strain: OG Kush X (OG Kush X Sour Diesel)
I have come across this strain in the past, but that was quite a few years back and I wasn’t able to fully appreciate it. So, I was particularly excited to see this batch of the 707 Headband strain on my recent trip to SFVDM in Van Nuys, CA.
“The process began with crossing a select OG Kush phenotype with the Sour Diesel strain. The DNA Genetics team then back-crossed the resulting hybrid with the same OG Kush plant.”
As the story goes, a strain with unknown genetics called 707 Headband was gaining popularity in Los Angeles when DNA Genetics decided to recreate the strain themselves. In turn, they combined the classic Sour Diesel and OG Kush strains to recreate the characteristics that the 707 Headband was known for.
More specifically, the process began with crossing a select OG Kush phenotype with the Sour Diesel strain. The DNA Genetics team then back-crossed the resulting hybrid with the same OG Kush plant.
So, if that is the case, there would actually be two separate examples of the 707 Headband strain: the original clone and the lineage created by DNA Genetics. I think it’s safe to assume that their variety is a bit easier to come across compared to the original, especially in the LA area.
Nonetheless, it would be interesting to analyze each strain’s terpene profile to see exactly how close DNA was able to get to the original 707 Headband with their breeding efforts.
How Will The 707 Headband Cannabis Strain Affect Me?
This was far from my first experience medicating with a DNA Genetics strain (see: Tangie, LA Confidential, Lemon OG Kush), and I’m rarely disappointed by their work; there’s a reason the Tangie strain wins all awards that it does. With this thought in mind, I figured I was in for a treat.
As mentioned, the 707 Headband strain has a heavy OG Kush influence, which told me I could expect cerebral effects coupled with a powerful noticeable body melt.
“The effects I experienced when medicating with the 707 Headband strain could be best described as stress relieving and slightly analgesic.”
While these expectations were met, the addition of the Sour Diesel strain seemed to help relieve sinus pressure around my temple as well.
Further, the effects I experienced when medicating with the 707 Headband strain could be best described as stress relieving and slightly analgesic. It was ideal for when I was in need of minor pain relief and relaxation, making it just the sort of strain that I would want to take along on vacation.
Overall, I would consider the 707 Headband strain to be a great option for patients in search of an effective strain for anxiety, OCD, and minor pain. It could be beneficial for those suffering from insomnia, depression, PTSD, and more.
