Kryptonite: Has Superman Met His Match?
-
Kryptonite
- Mendocino Purps
- Killer Queen
It is important to clarify that this is the strain review for Kryptonite, NOT Kryptonite OG.
These are two different strains entirely; the latter consisting of Kryptonite and OG Kush, which is much heavier and more stoney that Kryptonite by itself. These two marijuana strains are commonly confused. With a little bit of research on Google, you will find various websites classifying the Kryptonite lineage incorrectly.
Kryptonite Is An Indica-Dominant Hybrid
I believe the actual Kryptonite genetics are linked to the stable combination of Killer Queen and The Purps. This would make a lot more sense for Kryptonite than it being just another remnant or phenotype of OG Kush. To be honest, the second I looked over this batch of cannabis, I knew that it had relatively no OG Kush in its genetics. Instead, I saw obvious examples of purple on some parts of the bud, leading us to believe The Purpsis definitely present, which is fine by me.
To be completely honest, I was not too familiar with the Killer Queen strain before picking up this batch of medicine. As always, it is important to take the time to look up a strains genetics to learn more about the medicating experience you are about to partake in.
With a quick search, you will find that Killer Queen actually stems from the heavy combination of these 2 popular strains: G-13 (Indica) and Cinderella 99 (Hybrid). This explains why Kryptonite has such a powerful effect on the body, coupled with such a sweet tasting smoke — presumably from the Skunk #1 in the genetics of Cinderella. This sugary sweetness from the Cinderella 99 really shows through in this batch of Kryptonite. The overall aroma is very similar: musty, with only undertones of tropical skunk.
Patients Use Kryptonite To Battle Pain & Anxiety
If you ask around, many patients suffering from chronic aches and pains will tend to say that the marijuana that works best for them are purple strains. Some people swear by purple strains, claiming it’s their only go-to for pain relief. It would make sense, since a majority of purple strains are Indica dominant. Since Indica strains mainly effect the body, they tend to provide much more pain relief than Sativa strains.
So it should be no surprise then that Kryptonite (which contains both G-13, The Purps, and more), would be a fantastic choice of medication for patients looking for long-term pain management without the complete knock-out effect that most strong Indica strains are known for. This makes Kryptonite especially attractive to people who need the maximum amount of medicine in bud-form without feeling extremely tired or lazy.
