Super Strength Bacon Chocolate Tainted Truffles From Compassion Edibles

Crafted by Compassion Edibles, Bacon Chocolate Tainted Truffles come in regular strength (100 milligrams of THC) and super strength (225 mg of THC).

Compassion Edibles Produces Tainted Truffles And More

Based in the San Francisco Bay area, Compassion Edibles was founded by Mickey Martin in 2000 under the name Tainted Edibles. The company strives to produce the best-tasting, most effective infused edibles to cannabis patients in California.

Compassion Edibles has been a patient favorite for over a decade – the company operated under the name Tainted Edibles before changing the name in 2007.

Before being raided by the FDA during the same year, the company offered a total of 52 different products in various sizes and strengths.

“Compassion Edibles is best known for their signature line of Tainted Truffles.”

Compassion decided to regroup in 2013 with a redesigned product line. They offer a variety of medicated cookies and snacks; their list of specialties include Baklava, Granola, Chocolate Covered Pretzels and more.

Still, Compassion Edibles is best known for their signature line of Tainted Truffles. They come in 8 different flavors, spanning from classics like Double Chocolate and Peanut Butter to more daring varieties like Pistachio and Cookie Mint.

One of my favorite parts of the Tainted Truffles experience is the detailed information that Compassion provides on each individual package. The display includes a prominent warning label that reads, “CONTAINS CANNABIS”, in addition to another warning that the product contains peanut alergens.

Furthermore, I was happy to see that Compassion Edibles clearly dictates which strains of cannabis they use in each recipe. The list of ingredients for the Bacon Chocolate Tainted Truffles is as follows:

  • Dark Chocolate (Cacao Beans, Pure Cane Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Soya Lecithin, Vanilla Beans)
  • Chocolate (Palm Kernel and Partially Hydrogenated Palm Oils, Cocoa, Whey, Non-Fat Milk, Soya Lecithin, Vanilla)
  • Candied Bacon (Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Cayenne Pepper)
  • Heavy Cream
  • Corn Syrup
  • Cannabis Butter (Primarily Sour Diesel and OG Kush)
  • Potassium Sorbate

Also provided on the Tainted Truffle labeling is a note that estimates how much dried cannabis each package contains (≈20.83 grams), born on/best by dates, and a lot number in order to allow Compassion to track each batch they produce.

The company recently added bar codes to their packaging as well, and we’ll be looking to update this review with pictures that reflect this change as soon as possible.

The only other piece of information I would personally like to see on Compassion Edible’s labeling is a more detailed breakdown of the cannabinoid profile. While it clearly provides the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content (225 mg), I would love to know how much cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), etc. is contained in each package.

How Might Super Strength Tainted Truffles Affect Me?

After reviewing the Super Strength Raspberry Tainted Truffle, I knew that I was in for quite the effective infused edible treat. However, I was most intrigued by the interesting mixture of bacon and chocolate in one potent truffle (112.5mg THC).

The Bacon Chocolate flavor is Compassion’s newest version of the Tainted Truffle product line. I expected the bacon influence to be a bit more noticeable in the chocolate itself, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the truffle was instead topped with a small piece of candied bacon.

“There is no detectable cannabis taste despite the fact the truffles contain 225 mg of THC per package.”

Upon biting into the Bacon Chocolate Tainted Truffle for the first time revealed a decadent dark chocolate taste that was a nice compliment to the brown sugar and cinnamon flavor from the candied bacon. Perhaps most impressive, there is no detectable cannabis taste despite the fact the truffles contain 225 mg of THC per package.

I found one (1) super strength Tainted Truffle (112.5 mg THC) to be ideal when in need of serious stress and anxiety relief; it was helpful in relieving minor pain and muscle tightness in my shoulders also.

Even better, I could feel the effects creeping up on me in as little as 15 minutes. These effects often lasted for about 4-5 hours, and were often followed up by a tired feeling. With that said, eating just one truffle was a great way to ward off pain and insomnia at the end of a long day.
